Shingles Vaccine: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least one million people will develop shingles annually in the U.S. Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus, which is often referred to as “chicken pox”. A vaccine to prevent shingles was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2006. An individual who has had chicken pox or has had the chicken pox vaccine is highly susceptible to shingles. The vaccine, Zostavax, is recommended for adults 60 years of age and older.

Pneumonia Vaccine: PNEUMOVAX 23 is a vaccine indicated for active immunization for the prevention of pneumococcal disease. PNEUMOVAX 23 is approved for use in persons 50 years of age or older and persons aged >2 years who are at increased risk for pneumococcal disease.
